Good Luck, We're All Counting on You

Welp today was a long day, but I'll write as much as I have energy for.  Got up at 6 and got back shortly before 11.

The Blue Ridge Mountains span several states, and that was our next destination.  At 7 am we left for the trail and proceeded to hike up the mountain before the sun was too strong.  It was very steep, and after about half a mile I was pretty tired of climbing at such an angle.  But the top was gorgeous.  On top of some rocky outcroppings, we got a history lesson from our geo-physicst architect professor and then a lesson about thinking analytically.  How can we interpret the landscape while being critical?  We must be creative and add aspects that aren't there, but are part of the reality of the landscape.  With this confusing conceptual idea we spent the next 30-45 minutes sketching in such a way before heading back down.

Class today was only three hours about Representation in Design or something.  Basically we got a crash course in InDesign, as well as a lot of homework.  Each of us was assigned a certain building that we'll have to make a model for (the one I carry around).  Mine is the Seattle Public Library by OMA.  We also have to have 16 diagrams about site analysis and program, as well as an InDesign document about what we've done and another one about research with pictures and stuff.  Each diagram has to come with text explaining the process behind it, and then we'll pin everything up for crits on Monday.  After class the professors said good luck and we'll see you on Monday, so all of us headed to studio and pretended like we knew how to architecture.  (We don't know how to architecture).

After fumbling around with programs I don't know how to do and reading documents that appear to be in another language I took a quick hour break to go to my room and make dinner, then I went back to studio.  Oh yeah, as graduate architecture students we can't access the building, so that's been fun trying to get in.  So I spent like 3 more hours in studio doing research on the SPL and pretending to draw and model things.  Also the lights don't work on my side of studio so it was fun using my computer screen to light up my workspace.

I would've stayed longer cause I thoroughly enjoy working on this stuff, but around 10:30 I was pretty much spent, even though I wanted to work more.  I'll image dump some of the stuff I've been working on and if you want me to explain anything further leave a comment below or talk to me about it.  I always need a break.

Also I've heard Country Roads by John Denver for four nights in a row, multiple times a night.  I'm not even in West Virginia.

To be clear I most definitely didn't make these, but I'm working closely with these and about 80 more.

And here are 2 quick snapshots of one of my desks.
